Non- Invasive Neck Lift
Neck lift surgery is the gold standard for tightening loose skin, removing excess skin, and reducing cords or bands around the neck. However, there are several people that don’t want to go under the knife to cosmetically reduce the appearance of surplus skin around the neck. During your initial consultation, your surgeon will discuss with you various types of noninvasive neck lift procedures that offer successful results. You can make your decision after a careful deliberation. Vinings Surgery Center, led by board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Robert Colgrove, provides non-surgical neck lift to patients in Atlanta, Marietta, Georgia, and surrounding locations.
Fractionated Ablative Laser Treatment
A percentage of the neck skin is treated in the fractionated laser technology while leaving the adjacent skin untreated. This results in quicker healing. Selective destruction and heat damage is possible with erbium or carbon dioxide (CO2) lasers in the top two layers of the skin. This leads to skin contraction, textural improvements, and renewed collagen growth. A 2014 study found that patients experiencing jowling or skin laxity were benefited by fractional CO2 neck rejuvenation. The procedure resulted in long term efficacy. However, the authors of the study pointed that results were better in patients with moderate aging as compared to severe or mild. The procedure requires moderate wound care with downtime extending up to 10 days.
Injectable Dermal Fillers
Injectable fillers, such as Juvederm, Radiesse, Sculptra, and Restylane can help reduce wrinkles in the neck and restore the skin’s lost volume. Calcium hydroxyapatite and hyaluronic acid fillers are used by a few expert physician injectors for inducing collagen growth in the neck and reducing jawline definition as an off-label use. Practitioners will use a blunt-tipped cannula rather than a needle when used on the neck. The treatment may last 6 to 12 months.
Kybella
Kybella is recommended by doctors to improve neck contour if there is mild fat accumulation in the neck with good skin overlying it. Kybella injections comprise of deoxycholic acid that helps in breaking down and metabolizing fat. Recovery in this procedure is quick. However, you may notice redness and swelling at the injection site for a few days. You should be able to see results in just 4 – 6 weeks following the injectable.
Radiofrequency-Based Devices
Radiofrequency microneedling is a noninvasive procedure which treats loose skin and wrinkles. The procedure combines microneedling with radiofrequency to reproduce collagen, hyaluronic acid, and elastin naturally. Fine needles will be used to repeatedly puncture your skin in microneedling to trigger skin rejuvenation. The purpose of microneedling is to resurface the topmost layer of the skin. It also helps in enhancing the effects of radiofrequency energy treatment by stimulating production of elastin and collagen. A 2019 study observed that microneedling combined with bipolar radiofrequency could be used on a broad range of skin types with varying laxity levels. The results are not noticeable right away. They may take a few months to manifest completely. The treatment is beneficial on younger patients and those with recurrent laxity issues.
